NumberInbox / Trust & privacy

Your inbox.
Your information.

Email, reimagined with your number. Here is how we handle the data that makes your mailbox work, and how you stay in control of it.

Privacy policy · Last updated September 25, 2026

NumberInbox is a hosted email service. Your phone number identifies a mailbox at +{country code}{number}@numberinbox.com. We do not sell personal data or use mailbox contents for advertising.

Your account, your choice.

Delete your mailbox and mail in the app under Settings → Delete account. If you no longer have the app, request account deletion here.

Data we handle

  • Account and authentication: your phone number, mailbox address, account-claim status, app-specific mail credentials, and verification/SMS delivery information. A code sent to your number is used to sign in.
  • Hosted mail: messages, attachments, addresses, subject lines, timestamps, folders, and delivery information are stored on our Stalwart mail service and its configured storage. Other mail providers necessarily process messages you exchange with them.
  • Service operation: device and push registration if enabled, security and error logs, and crash diagnostics when enabled. An attachment is uploaded when you choose to send it. The app can use contacts for address suggestions with your permission; it does not upload your whole address book.
  • Business senders and support: delivery and billing records for senders, and information you provide in support or deletion requests.

We use this data to deliver and display mail, authenticate accounts, send applicable verification or first-mail SMS, provide notifications, prevent abuse, answer requests, and keep the service running. We do not sell it or use it for targeted ads.

Service providers

Depending on the feature and deployment, our hosting and object-storage providers, SMS providers (Plivo or Telnyx), Firebase Cloud Messaging, and Sentry diagnostics may process data needed for those functions. External mail providers process mail exchanged with their users. Processing may occur outside your country.

Retention & deletion

Account and mail data are kept while the mailbox exists. In the app, choose Settings → Delete account and re-enter the number on the signed-in mailbox. No extra SMS code is sent for that step. Deletion removes the mailbox, its messages, and app credentials from active service storage. Later mail to the same number may create a new empty mailbox, without the deleted mail.

If you no longer have the app, request account deletion on the web. We verify account control before deleting anything. Backup copies are not removed immediately and expire under our operational backup schedule. Contact us for the current retention period. Independent business-sender records are not automatically deleted with a recipient mailbox.

Your choices

For access, correction, deletion, or questions about your data, email privacy@numberinbox.com. You can disable optional notifications and permissions in device settings. Removing the app alone does not delete its hosted mailbox.

Security & updates

We use encrypted network connections and restrict operational access to service data. No internet service can promise absolute security. Material policy changes will be posted here with a new date.
